Local Shorts is pleased to announce that we've donated 50% of our profits from the 2005 festival to the Albuquerque Public Schools Homeless Project, which helps almost 3000 homeless children in the APS system get food and shelter, and get to school regularly, with the goal of ending generational homelessness.
This year, they're also assisting survivors of the Katrina disaster that have been displaced to the Albuquerque area. We're honored to help in their efforts.
For an overview of the 2005 festival profit and our donation to the APS Homeless Project, see the 2005 Local Shorts summary charts (require Adobe Acrobat - get it here.)

Local Shorts and Katrina

Yep, its funny how the world spins. Our little festival which raised $229.58 for the homeless project, (see story posted here soon about $ breakdown...) will help some of the new homeless in Albuquerque, the refugees from our national disaster. It will go fast, of course, but its more than I or probably many of you could donate individually. And as we all will make our individual contributions to the Red Cross, etc., this small additional amount is significant because of what went along with it. Last Friday there were three families that were entering APS, one with eight kids. I'm sure you know by now the numbers have gone up geometrically. I like the Shorts for bringing the community together, spreading awareness about these issues, and listening to each others' voices. Thanks, folks. We've done a good thing.

Local Shorts 3.5

November 30, 2005

This Thursday at 6pm we've been asked by the City on a Hill folks to revive the a.m. session at The Lobo for the Nob Hill Stroll. They usually show "Its a Wonderful Life", but, of course, nobody stays for the whole thing. It will be some good exposure for us Shorties, as there are many people at the stroll. Please let me know if you are okay having your short re-visited! Admission will be free. Maybe we'll see you out there! Thanks,  -Jeff
